FHIR unlocks a plethora of options for healthcare organizations that intend to take full advantage of data. Health information exchanges will either become more relevant to the market or will be replaced as more and more organizations are able to communicate. Large data aggregators can become data sellers as well.Read More
Clinical Data Subject Matter Expert based in San Francisco
I help major US payers (Kaiser,BCBS,HAP,Highmark) and large medical centers ingest and analyze clinical data to avoid waste, comply with government measures, and provide better patient care. I work towards a world where clinical data flows freely and build transparency between payers, providers and patients. My passion for innovation comes from the frustrations I experienced in healthcare as an MD in Egypt followed by Transplant Surgery internships at TUFTS New England Medical Center.
I have been invited to present at the HL7 FHIR roundtables and have won multiple innovation awards, most notably, the California Healthcare Foundation's Social Determinants of Health design challenge. I am proud to have founded Egypt's biggest digital health network and ecosystem through the Health 2.0 | Egypt chapter.Contact Me

What Others Say
Chairman of Health 2.0
Omar has worked closely with Health 2.0 News doing Health Innovation research and writing. He is very passionate about what he does, regularly attending our major conferences and is also a Codeathon and health challenges veteran. He has a very curious mind, a fascinating background in Egypt and the US, and will do great things in the future.
CTO Blue Cross Blue Shield of Kansas
Omar is a fine professional with a very deep and unique skillset blend in healthcare, clinical data and technical data analytics. His expertise was instrumental for us in our initial quality testing of clinical data sources and I would highly recommend him for any similar opportunity.
Senior Designer & Data Scientist at IDEO
I worked very closely with Omar to deliver several clinical data science use cases to a major healthcare payer. Omar gave a key contribution to the prediction models we developed through his clinical knowledge. Furthermore, he combined the models output with his understanding of the client's needs to create an intuitive and to-the-point visual dashboard. This tool is currently used at the organization for prioritization and informing the next best action. Omar has the domain expertise, data visualization skills and charisma to engage healthcare clients in complex topics and become their trusted advisor. I highly recommend him for client facing data science roles.
Prof. Mike Grandinetti
Startup CMO & Chief Strategy Officer, Professor of Entrepreneurship & Innovation
I have interacted with any thousands of students for over 20 years, at universities as diverse as MIT, Rutgers, Babson Hult, the Technical Univeristy of Denmark and many others. Without hesitation, Omar is amongst the top 5 that I have met. His growth mindset, his intellect, his enthusiasm for life, his multi-cultural perspective, all combine to make him an extraordinary young man. I have worked with him extensively, and you simply can not ask for abetter leader, team-mate, or individual contributor. He is a joy to work with.
Dr. Mohamed Fateen
Lecturer & Consultant of Hematological Pathology and Specialist of Hematology
I met Omar for the first time in 2012 when he came to the department of Clinical pathology to collaborate on a blood and organ donation project, which he co-founded. Then again in 2014, Omar called me and was very enthusiastic about his new idea of starting Health 2.0 in Egypt. With his dedication and persistance, Health 2.0 has grown tremendously and expanded in several cities, helping healthcare startups and entrepreneurs to get together and changing healthcare systems. I can say that Omar is a natural leader who has a vision, innovative and gets things done when everyone else thinks it cannot be done.
Andrea La Fata
Project Manager Senior Advisor at Dell
Omar is a professional with a peculiar and valuable mix between creativity, analytics and commitment. His ideas are fresh and strong! I worked together with him in different projects for almost 4 months and he always had something constructive to add. You can always count on Omar when it comes to outside of the box thinking. If he has a weak knowledge area, he will accept it but he still will step into the work and improve it how he can, which was always in a positive way. Omar is a GREAT presenter! This, along with his strong soft skills are part of his bright personality.
